If I had a dollar for every time I heard the “what if your mom aborted you” or the “everyone that is for abortion has already been born” arguments, I could pay off all of my student loans, I swear.
For one, if my mother had an abortion, I wouldn’t know. Why? Because I wouldn’t exist. This isn’t a hard thing to comprehend. If by some form of magic, my mom aborted me and I somehow knew, I would be okay with it. I love my mother very much. She’s a wonderful parent and one of my best friends. I would never want to force her through something that she did not want to do, or could not handle, even if that meant that I wouldn’t exist as a result. You see, I’m not a selfish asshole. Sorry to disappoint you.
As for “innocent lives”, I’m calling bullshit on that, too. I’m not a religious person, so I think of a fetus as a neutral thing, no innocence or guilt. If you’re basing your arguments off of certain religious beliefs, then you have to acknowledge that we’re all born with “original sin”. So that fetus you’re trying to save isn’t innocent, either.
Also! Abortion isn’t murder, hate to break it to you. Abortion, a legal medical procedure, does not fit the criteria to be referred to as “murder”. You can whine about how “it’s not about the law!” all you want. That doesn’t change the fact that if you’re trying to call abortion murder, you have to acknowledge the fact that you’re trying to discuss the law, and in terms of the law, abortion does not fit the standards that determine what is and what is not murder.
